Rustic Clock Refresh

DIY

If you’ve been around here long enough, you know that not a day goes by that we’re not working on some sort of a project. When it comes to design projects, I like to think outside of the box and make things my own. I live for the thrill of the hunt, and pieces that tell a good story.

I found this clock on clearance at my beloved At Home, because one of the hands was broken. For a whopping deal at 80% off, I paid my $24 and took off running out of the store in case the security guard tried to come after me for what seemed like decoration robbery. I called my handy-man, and was ready to make some magic happen.

We picked up these replacement clock hands on Amazon, and she was good as new! This clock hung in our old house for the very brief moment in time that it was on the market before it was packed up and moved to our new house. I struggled finding the perfect place for it, and decided it was in desperate need of a facelift.

We opted to spray paint some matte copper accents, and this clock looks like an entirely new piece!

Moral of the story: don’t be afraid to take a chance on something that’s broken or not exactly what you had in mind. Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount on an item the store will have trouble selling as is - the worst they could say is no. Take the risk! With a little bit of vision and elbow grease, you can make something your own for the price of a can of paint.
