Travel Diaries: Puerto Vallarta

Caleb and I are the type of people that hustle relentlessly, get incredibly burnt out, and hop on a plane for a week long last minute vacation in attempt to recover. While there, we question why we don't travel more often, promise to do better, and have the exact same conversation 6 months later when the same cycle repeats itself. We are nothing, if but predictable.

For our 5th wedding anniversary, we wanted to really take some time to disconnect from our work phones that never seemed to stop ringing. We opted to hop on a plane in route to Puerto Vallarta. As you can imagine, I’d done my research, booked our trip solely on points and airline miles, and we were ready to party. A mere 48 hours before we left, I had a weird feeling that I needed to check hotel reviews. A very long story short (hurricanes, nearby hotel damage, trespassers, crime), I immediately canceled our reservation and scrambled to find another resort. Coincidentally enough, I very quickly landed on Hotel Mousai, booked without an ounce hesitation, and strolled on out to the garage to tell Caleb what I’d done.  Needless to say, it was undoubtedly the best decision I’ve ever made. I mean…..

We landed in Puerto Vallarta, and a private black car service took us to the resort. Um hello, is this how the other half lives? We felt a little out of our league - kind of like showing up at a champagne soiree with a case of natty light. But by the time we arrived, and my carsickness wore off, we were red carpet ready. Hotel Mousai is the only five diamond resort in Puerto Vallarta, and unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.  The stunning jungle and ocean views, the rooftop pool, the gourmet food that never ends, the daily live music, the butler, the pillow menu and iPad controlled room, I mean wut? I could swoon over this place all day long, but I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

We kayaked, we explored, we planned our morning activities around eating two breakfasts, we lounged, and we lived our best life. I speak for both of us when I say that we thrive in Mexico.

Currently trying to figure out how quickly we can get back there, and how I can manage to stay longer than a week. Maybe I’ll just move in? If you need a vacation, don’t go anywhere but here. Except maybe don’t tell your friends, because this is undoubtedly a hidden gem.
