The Emotions of Quarantine: as told by gifs
The last few months have been filled with the most bizarre series of emotions. Does Home Depot miss me too? At what point do I need to try on a pair of pants to make sure they still fit?
5 Things I Learned In My 30th Year
Honestly, what a time to be alive. My 30th year was full blown insanity. Filled with all the fun, so much travel, incredible new experiences, and a global pandemic one will surely never forget. This year, I’ve learned a lot about myself, my people, my passions, and truly how much I live for a good list.
DIY Adirondack Chairs
Can we pause for a moment of silence and reflection on how wildly expensive quality patio furniture actually is? Like wut?? After an entire year of shopping turned doodling and some not-so-subtle hinting, it was time to get my handyman involved.
Oh, Darling! Here’s how to build the perfect charcuterie
A not all that surprising fact about me if we’ve ever enjoyed a meal together: I’m a picky eater. While my tastebuds have drastically changed over the years, I’ve developed a handful of very strong opinions that will forever hold true. Cheese tho…?
Travel Diaries: Charleston, SC
I love adventuring, exploring new places and creating an itinerary around meal time. I am fortunate enough to travel to fun new places for work, err well under normal circumstances anyway. Last fall, I packed my slightly overweight bag for a 15 day coast to coast trip - first stop, Charleston, South Carolina!
DIY End Tables
I had all but given up hope until Caleb convinced me that we already had all of the materials on hand to make our own. Using wood scraps from the dining room table, and leftover metal tubing from the light fixture, wait, wut?
Oh, Darling! Remember when Caleb planned a surprise vacation?
Bottomless poolside pineapple margaritas from our enabler Jose, all the shrimp tacos you can possibly eat, daily cooking classes for things we will absolutely never remember, and an afternoon DJ? Hello, we live here now.
10 Must Have Game Night Games
Truth be told, game night around these parts is an art form. We like to play hard, eat all the things, play some more, eat dessert, and if we’re lucky enough, we keep playing until it’s time to eat again. You know… #balance
DIY Flag Stand
My grandmother Frankie, or Mimi if you will, had this hysterical porcelain goose that stood watch near her front door. It had a wardrobe full of interchangeable outfits kept on hangers in the coat closet nearby. Much like my Mimi, I also have an obsession with front door accessories - but mine are flower bed flags. *cue Dr. Sheldon Cooper presents: fun with flags*
Rustic Clock Refresh
I found this clock on clearance at my beloved At Home, because one of the hands was broken. For a whopping deal at 80% off, I paid my $24 and took off running out of the store in case the security guard tried to come after me for what seemed like decoration robbery.
All About Graphic Tees
I can’t imagine I’m alone when I say that my wardrobe these days primarily consists of graphic tees and pants of the elastic waist variety.
DIY No Sew Curtains
I can’t be alone when I make this statement: window coverings are by far are my least favorite interior design activity. Finding just the right set is no easy feat: the color, the texture, the length, the curtain rod, the curtain hooks - just eww.
Oh, Darling! Let’s talk skincare!
Let me start by saying, I absolutely do not enjoy doing my makeup. My level of effort could be described as doing just enough to not scare away other humans should they come within a 10 foot radius. My skincare regimen though? It’s on a poppin, and my skin is loving all this extra breathing room! Dare I say I have a Benjamin Button situation happening? Could it be, am I actually aging in reverse?
Travel Diaries: Puerto Vallarta
We landed in Puerto Vallarta, and a private black car service took us to the resort. Um hello, is this how the other half lives? We felt a little out of our league - kind of like showing up at a champagne soiree with a case of natty light.
Oh, Darling! Let me tell you about my Peloton
I am addicted to this piece of machinery, and will absolutely tell anyone who will listen how magnificent it truly is. Remember Napoleon Dynamite’s Uncle Rico? “Hey, y’all wanna see my video?” This is me, except “Hey, y’all wanna see my Peloton?”
From Trash to Table
Seeing said pile grow larger by the minute, I had an idea. At one point, Caleb politely reminded me that everything was to be thrown away. Not if I have anything to do with it, pal!
Cinco de Mayo: the best queso + marg recipes
Let’s be clear about something real quick. As a queso aficionado myself, I can wholeheartedly say that I absolutely do not need a reason to eat queso, but with open arms, welcome any and every opportunity to enjoy liquid gold, free of judgement. But Cinco de Mayo on a Taco Tuesday? This is our quarantine saving grace!
Oh, Darling! Remember when Caleb planned a surprise party?
Color me shocked when Caleb told me he had planned a birthday surprise. What do you mean you planned a birthday surprise? Like you pre-ordered an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen orrrr…?
Our First Home: Operation Renovation
We’d been married all of four months when we bought our first house. Given the white hot real estate market at the time, we should’ve taken the hint that this house and the 45 days it had sat on the market was not a good sign. But in true Caleb & Jordan fashion, it was our mission to make it better than how we found it.
DIY Plant Stand
I’ve become quite the crazy plant lady the last few months, and can’t hardly believe I’ve been able to keep a fiddle leaf fig alive for well over a year now #plantwhisperer. With all of this extra time on my hands, why not bring a little extra color and height to my front porch plants?
Oh, Darling! I’d love to hear from you.
